DERREG Objective:

To produce an interpretative model that will enable regional development actors to better anticipate and respond to key challenges for rural regions rising from globalisation.

DERREG will undertake empirical research in four thematic work packages:

• WP1: Global engagement and local embeddedness of rural businesses
• WP2: International mobility and migration of rural populations
• WP3: Environmental capital and sustainable rural development
• WP4: Capacity building, governance and knowledge systems

An additional work package (WP5) will synthesize findings from these studies to produce an integrated analysis
